COURSE OBJECTIVE:
This course is designed to introduce students to basic skills involved in defending against assaults in close quarters. This training will incorporate basic blocking and striking techniques including, but not limited to, hand strikes, elbows, knees, and kicks.
The training will also involve weapon deployment and retention techniques. Students will work with a variety of situations where a violent situations. The training will include standing and ground defense
LAW ENFORCEMENT ONLY COURSE
This training will also include discussion of applicable Department Policies, Case Law, and Report Writing responsibilities (After Action Reports) related to Force Response Used.
Required Equipment:
TDU for physical training. Duty Vest. Empty duty belt. ***NO FIREARMS OR AMMO, NO OC ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM. Blue Guns and simulated weapons will be permitted. Optional equipment: Students may choose to wear knee pads, elbow pads, and a mouth guard. Men may choose to wear groin protection.
